  1. My years working with young people in schools, especially as their counselor, gave me great insights into their goodness, their values and their goals. My own life contains many younger folks such as those at the party in August, none closer than Onofrio of Long island, my best friend’s youngest son, who played bass in August with me. Though 50 years seperate us in age, nothing else does. I am inspired by my younger friends and their goodness and their values. They also give me hope for the future and , in their own way, help to keep my young. Sure, we talk and work together at times, but we also play like kids, too. We enjoy life together and know how to laugh and have fun. Our younger folks, just as our “elder” friends, are all part of God’s blessings for us. It is sad to see so many elders are seperated or not interested in relating to the younger generation. They are missing a gold mine!
